Redwood High School, an alternative continuation school, is one of seven schools in the Sequoia Union High School District (SUHSD). Established in 1966, the school is located in San Mateo County on the border of Redwood City and San Carlos.Redwood has gone through many changes over its history. The most recent relaunch of the school occurred at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, which included the opening of its new facilities. Redwood High School now has a two-story building that houses eight new classrooms, including a video and audio recording studio. The relaunch has offered the school opportunities to continue to build its Career and Technical Education pathways in Culinary Arts, Industrial Arts, and Digital Arts.The core of Redwood High School’s offerings is its credit recovery program. The school’s academic program allows students an accelerated pathway to earning credits, giving students who are behind in their graduation requirements a fresh opportunity to recover and earn a high school diploma. One day a week, the school has a shortened schedule to allow for advisory as well as staff meeting and planning time.Redwood High School’s Career and Technical Education focus, in addition to high academic expectations and social-emotional support, create a small, unique alternative learning community for students in Sequoia Union High School District.
