Mentor Teachers (MTs) serve as a model of excellent teaching, as well as a coach to corps members (CMs). MTs coach in a way that empowers CMs, yet still pushes them to grow as they begin their careers in education. For these reasons, we are looking for MTs who are able to dive right into coaching CMs. Ideally, MTs are able to quickly determine key levers in the classroom and have an orientation to data. MTs are the most proximate staff members to our new teachers--as such, MTs MUST be able to build relationships across lines of difference, and be a support to CMs who are struggling. MTs should be prepared to model lessons, teach lessons when CMs are not prepared, and facilitate some sessions over the course of the summer.
