Shuttle Driver at Lodestar – Part-Time
THE OPPORTUNITYLodestar seeks to provide a shuttle van for a small group of students to support families and to reduce traffic in the neighborhood. As a result, we are piloting a van shuttle for three weeks in December. This position may extend into a permanent position once we learn more about how the shuttle program works. The Lodestar Shuttle Driver must have an impeccable commitment to safety, have a can-do attitude, and willingness to provide excellent customer service to students and families.LODESTAR SHUTTLE DRIVER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESConvey student passengers to and from predetermined locations using predetermined routes and timetables safely and in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Assist passengers in loading and unloading into the vehicle safely and perform basic first aid for any passenger as needed. Interact with and answer passengers’ and their family members’ questions in a polite and gentle manner. Maintain constant communication with the dispatcher or manager. Carry out regular check on the shuttle vehicle to ensure any needs for maintenance or safety are identified, reported, and fixed before and after each day’s run so that shuttle can operate safely each day. Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and carry out to report repairs for minor faults and major problems, accidents, or damage to the vehicle to the dispatcher or technician. Obey all traffic rules and regulations guiding the operation of shuttle services in his/her assigned area. This may include the predetermined routes, not going beyond stipulated boundaries Dress in a neat and professional manner. This may be in accordance with the shuttle service company’s dress code or in accordance with the stipulated dress code for drivers operating in that area. Complete and implement all required safety trainings and professional requirements in regards to staff/student interactions in accordance with law and EdCode. Other duties as assigned by supervisor QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma/GED preferred Valid California Driver's License, required Clean Driving Record for the past 5 years and clean background check from DOJ/FBI as well as holding a first aid/CPR certificate, completion of mandated reporter training, and proof of being TB-free. Experience working in urban education serving students of color from low-income backgrounds Spanish fluency, preferred, Physical Demands:Ability to operate a vehicle with up to 10 passengers for multiple hours each day Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform routine maintenance tasks Sit for a long period of time Use of hands, controls, tools and objects Repetitive same movementsSUPERVISIONThis position reports to Operations Associate.TIME COMMITMENT This position is a part-time hourly non-exempt position through January 30th, M-F 6:45-8:45am, ~10 hours per week (.25FTE). (for 4-6 week pilot depending on hire date) with opportunity for role to be extended based on success of pilot.COMPENSATIONHourly commensurate with experience.
