This team is responsible for talent recruitment, selection and onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, staff performance management, and learning and development, as well as building an organization-wide culture based on our core values, impact and mission.The Director, Learning & Culture reports to the Senior Director, Learning & Culture. The Director, Learning and Culture partners closely with our Leadership Development & Design team (who focuses on member development and engagement); the Director of Performance Evaluation & Growth and Manager of Employee Engagement; and across the Talent, Learning, & Culture team to work on a range of talent-related learning and development initiatives aimed at driving and fostering a high-performing, diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. Specifically, this director is responsible for developing the technical and adaptive content and curriculum for LEE’s people managers, new hires, and staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) learning series that support staff to lead with our principles of DEI and reach ambitious and impactful outcomes in collaboration with key partners across our matrixed organization. The successful candidate approaches their work through an equity and inclusion lens and works across the LEE enterprise to support and improve onboarding, performance management, professional development, and strengthen our culture.The successful candidate seeks to embody LEE’s core values (Leadership, Collective Action, Meaningful Impact, All Voices, Continuous Learning, and Member driven) with a deep belief in LEE’s principles of DEI. Position Location: FlexibleTravel Requirements: 20%, including one regional or national trip per month once travel resumes (no current travel due to COVID-19)Responsibilities:Design and facilitate differentiated learning opportunities (35%)Design, facilitate, and improve staff learning programs (asynchronous, blended, and in-person/virtual in real time) including: DEI Learning Series, Management Community of Practice, New Hire Experience, All Staff Conference, Dialogue Series. Gather input on org-wide learning series, e.g. giving and receiving feedback, design plans for multi-level implementation, and lead facilitation Build online learning experiences for staff aligned with member learning that reflect LEE’s values and principles of adult learning theoryOrg-wide culture and learning support (25%)Provide coaching to staff at all levels of the organization in support of our broader culture and learning priorities Consult with managers and team leaders on matters of culture or learning Consult with staff, managers and teams on learning needs and identifying opportunities Collaborate with culture liaisons/culture committee members to reinforce culture-aligned behaviors and actions across the organization As a circle practitioner, provide opportunities to leverage circle, and other restorative principles and practices, across LEEProject management (20%)Facilitate project teams working collaboratively to execute on org-wide culture and learning initiatives, e.g. Culture Committee, Internal DEI strategy learning team, career mentorship program Manage cross-functional planning and logistics teams for the biannual All Staff ConferenceConnect, manage and oversee learning processes (15%)Connect staff to individual and group learning opportunities to grow their knowledge and skills Manage and promote the continuous learning scholarship program, including identify external opportunities for individual and group learning; consult on, review, score, and recommend awards for scholarship applications; manage scholarship payments and reimbursements; and track budget for scholarship program Oversight of onboarding to ensure staff have the learning they need for a strong start Support team coordinator in tracking new hire learning complianceOther projects (5%)Participate in team meetings, team retreats, and team wide initiatives Other projects as assigned by the Senior Director, Learning & Culture Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience 6 years of relevant professional experience designing and/or managing leadership development programs for diverse talent Strong, demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion including experience facilitating identity-based programming Experience developing curriculum and designing experiential trainings for adult learners in a workplace environment Experience facilitating and creating content for virtual and online learning for adult learners Demonstrated record of project management, a bias to action, and extraordinary attention to detail Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills, including a thorough understanding of adult learning principles and effective training methodologies, especially from a diversity, equity and inclusion lens Demonstrated skill in influencing and relationship-building with clients, partners, and people from various backgrounds and cultures Team player with effective verbal and written communications skills, high tolerance for ambiguity, and the ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment Commitment to continuous learning and improvement Effective analytical skills with ability to translate metrics, research, and trends to inform learning that drives impact Ability to travel up to 20% in order to deliver content to organizational constituents, when travel returns after the pause in travel due to COVID-19Preferred Qualifications:Track record for delivering results through successful program design and implementation in a client-facing, change management, or consulting role Experience managing a high-performing team Familiarity with restorative practices including circle practices Experience working directly on topics related to civic leadership development Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
