The Director, Compliance plays the critical role of managing government reporting for LEE and its related entities. The Director manages a portfolio of systems, databases, and vendors to ensure LEE and its related entities file on-time and accurate governmental registrations, reports, and renewals. The Director ensures that LEE and its related entities meet their compliance obligations related to all levels of government.The Director’s portfolio will primarily consist of managing all corporate registrations and reports, such as state business registrations, charitable solicitation registrations, and state contractor registrations. To ensure that all required information is collected and reported, the Director will develop and administer systems, databases, and resources, including staff trainings. Also, the Director, Compliance will manage campaign finance databases and reporting on behalf of LEE and its related political action committees. The Director will research campaign finance regulations and other compliance related questions, as needed.The Director will be responsible for managing the corporate insurance portfolio, its renewal process, certificate requests, and compliance with contract requirements.The ideal Director candidate will demonstrate a passion for compliance to build and maintain an enduring institution, a successful track record of developing systems and managing information, thrive in a collaborative virtual environment, and be a proven self-starter. The Director will report to the General Counsel and work closely with the Vice President, Elected Leadership.Position Location: Flexible, NYC preferredTravel Requirements: Up to 15%Responsibilities:Database and Systems Management (30%)Manage information in various databases such as NGP VAN, Everyaction 8, and Salesforce Develop and administer systems that will ensure organization behaviors are compliant and efficiently capture all required information Manage corporate insurance portfolio, including completing insurance certificate requests, reviewing contract insurance requirements and managing corporate insurance renewal processGovernment Reporting (30%)Manage organization’s governmental filing responsibilities, including campaign finance, state registrations, and vendor registrations Complete and document required filings, including alerting appropriate teams to upcoming deadlines and coordinating compilation of responsesWork directly with outside vendors to support this process Research (20%)Research contribution and compliance requirements for all LEE member candidates, fellows, and organizing actions and other compliance related questionsSpecial projects (20%)As assigned, including assisting the General Counsel and other team members with delivering staff trainings and developing staff resources on compliance topics Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required 5 years relevant professional work experience Experience with database management Experience with contract management and a passion for paperwork and details Demonstrated ability to design systems that drive toward compliance Excellent research skills Strong attention to detail and a strong skill in proofreading as well as a high-level of accuracy in work Demonstrated ability to independently plan strategically, prioritize, and manage implementation of plans in fast-moving, changing environments Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information with discretion and in a professional manner Comfortable with ambiguity and able to provide logical, next steps towards action items Flexible and committed to continuous learningPreferred Qualifications:2-3 years experience and confidence engaging with campaign finance regulations and reporting Demonstrated ability to research campaign finance contribution limits and reporting requirements Prior experience working on a state campaign for elected office Prior experience designing systems for optimal database management and government reporting Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
