Education Specialist: Specialized Teaching Program

This is the application for the Education Specialist: Specialized Teaching Program (STP) role at KIPP.  You can see a full list of our openings here.The mission of the Specialized Teaching Program is to prepare students with moderate/severe difficulties in academics, communication, socialization, life skills, and behavior for a lifetime of learning, employment, and civic engagement.  The Education Specialist will be an essential member of the Specialized Teaching Program’s development and implementation team. The Education Specialist will provide for the academic, social and emotional growth of each student manifesting behavior, academic and social deficits requiring a more restrictive setting.  The Education Specialist will continually monitor each student’s progress to maximize his or her fullest potential and collaborate with the general education team to create meaningful inclusion opportunities for each student.The ideal candidate for this position is confident in assessing and teaching students with autism and other students with severe difficulties in communication, socialization and behavior as well as confident in advising others.  S/he will provide training to classroom teachers, school staff, paraeducators, parents and the students on pedagogy, learning styles and practical strategies to enable access to the curriculum and social opportunities. We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing a model program aligned to KIPP’s mission of preparing students to lead a choice-filled life.
