KIPP schools are united by a common mission, a commitment to excellence, and a belief that if we help children develop the academic and character strengths they need for college and choice-filled lives, they will be able to build a better tomorrow for themselves, for their communities, and for us all.There are currently 15 KIPP schools across the Bay Area educating nearly 6,000 students in East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San Jose, and Redwood City and supporting over 3,000 alumni around the country.Position Overview KIPP Bay Area’s KIPP Through College (KTC) team is looking for a Career & Technical Education (CTE) Advising Manager to support KIPP Bay Area alumni by equipping them with experiences that help link their education to a future career.Primary Responsibilities Include:Conduct Labor Market research in our 3 subregions with Accenture’s support. Conduct focus groups with students in High School regarding career interests Identify at least 2 CTE Providers in each sub-region--matching high demand industries with the industries of interest to our students (By February 2020) Track recommended providers and share with all College Counselors (By February 2020) Develop PD sessions to share CTE Provider information to our DCC’s, College Counselors and Persistence Advisors (By February 2020) Establish CTE partnership with our Community Colleges (By Summer 2020) Develop and oversee workforce development partnerships and programming (certification programs in healthcare, IT and other in-demand fields with track records of placement into jobs with family-sustaining wages, benefits, and options to progress in their careers).KIPP Through College Team Participation:Attend and participate in all KTC team meetings, Alumni Advisor Work Group meetings, KTC Persistence Manager team meetings and Regional Support Office team meetings Attend and participate in the KTC Leadership Community of Practice and/or Regional Support Office New Managers training sessions Plan and participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with manager and direct reports to maintain healthy team dynamics and drive indisputable impact for studentsRequirements:Positivity, optimism and a solutions-oriented mindset Practice healthy communication and embrace productive conflict to form trusting relationships, to collaborate, offer feedback and guidance, and to motivate and inspire others.
