Founding Project Director
About Bay Area Education Trust The Bay Area Education Trust is taking a different approach to closing the opportunity gap and increasing social mobility for families in the Bay Area; we begin our work by first asking families and communities what they think is needed. In this spirit, we are raising a community investment fund to transform the outcomes and experiences for students by investing in, and unleashing, the full power of families, community organizations and districts.Values Our core values are at the heart of everything we do and we look for individuals who share our commitments:Humility First. We engage each community with humility and deep respect for the history, context, and local expertise / lived experiences of families, community members, and educators. We enter to build relationships, learn, and work together. Trust Is Earned. Trust is the foundation of getting-things-done relationships. We enter communities prepared to invest the time and energy required to build proper relationships and earn trust across a diverse set of stakeholders. Disciplined Approach. We see the urgency and angst that has emerged during COVID school closures as an opportunity to tap into potential family and community leaders but not as a reason to short-cut their leadership development or the work necessary to build relationships and trust. Learn & Adapt Constantly. We will continuously learn and adapt with local partners to and anchor our learning around a shared vision for student success Operate With An Organizer’s Mindset. We embrace the “invisible” work of drawing connections and building capacity among others. We do not seek public attention or credit and are in service of the success of others.BAET’s Community Support Orientation BAET exists to serve students and families.
