We are seeking enthusiastic educators to provide targeted academic and behavioral support for scholars receiving special education services. You will work with education specialists to ensure that scholars receive consistent, well-planned, and individualized interventions in order to meet their IEP goals. We're committed to finding leaders who value and amplify the diverse experiences of our staff and scholars and their families, and who care deeply about addressing the inequities that exist in education.What you’ll do…Provide scholars with special needs instructional supports to close achievement gap(s) Plan and deliver lessons to individuals and small groups of scholars (with special needs and without) that target remedial skill needs, IEP goals, and general education content Schedule and provide small group instructional support in the general education classroom Provide in the moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary Analyze data and conduct assessments to track student progress on IEP goals and assist Education specialist(s) in the completion of quarterly progress reports Support establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions Collaborate with special education and general education teachers to optimize push-in services for scholars with special needs Support school leadership teams in varied capacities as needed Build Relationships by collaborating with special education teachers, Director of Special Education, general education teachers, school leadership team, and families regarding student needs and progress Work to maintain a positive culture on campus by building strong relationships with scholars and adults alike Successfully strike a balance of nurturing and firm in your communication with scholars Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions Grow Professionally Engage in professional development opportunities provided by Alpha Receive and implement feedback from experienced educational coaches You possess...AA Degree required (BA preferred) OR completion of two years of college, not a degree but 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college credit OR a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessopmal Assessment Test A strong commitment not only to our students, but also to your own continuous professional development. Approximately 80% of Alpha’s students are from under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to go to college. The majority of our students are Latinx and/or Vietnamese. Organized: You are self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to plan and execute tasks. Experienced: You have taught in an under-resourced community, and/or you have a background of shared experience with our scholars. Patient: You believe in the long-term growth of scholars with disabilities, and are patient, compassionate, and flexible as you help them achieve their potential.
