We're committed to finding professionals who value and amplify the diverse experiences of our staff and scholars and their families, and who care deeply about addressing the inequities that exist in education.What you’ll do…Execute all day to day responsibilities such as:Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Special Education, the School Psychologist will provide evaluative services to students who are referred to special education and to students who require triennial reevaluations Professionally write and present legally defensible psychoeducational reports at IEP meetings, and engage excellent judgment skills to make recommendations on special education eligibility Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with special education laws, as well as school policies and procedures Stay organized in a dynamic and ever-changing environment, with attention to timing and detail, especially in regards to legal timelines for assessments If authorized by credential, provide small group and individual counseling sessions for general education and special education students Provide timely feedback to and facilitate collaboration and communication between students, parents, special education teachers, and general education teachers CollaborateCollaborate with families, special education teachers, and general education teachers to ensure psychoeducational reports present a holistic picture of student needs Serve as the gate-keeper of special education referrals, and make decisions on which intervention path is best for individual students Engage with families around the special education pre-referral and referral process, as well as effectively articulate decisions that are made based on evaluations Assist the IEP team with developing appropriate and rigorous supports for students with special needs You possess…Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with authorization in School Psychology 1-5 years working as a school psychologist (or school psychologist intern/psychological assistant), preferably in urban schools Master’s Degree (MA/MS) in School Psychology or Educational Psychology A strong commitment not only to our students, but also to your own continuous professional development. Approximately 80% of Alpha’s students are from under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to go to college. The majority of our students identify as Latinx and/or Vietnamese. Experienced: Alpha School Psychologists have 1-5 years of conducting psycho-educational evaluations/psychometric tests that serve as the basis for special education referrals. They possess a valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential. We also place a high value on professionals who have worked in an under-resourced community, and/or you have a background of shared experience with our scholars.
