We're committed to finding educators who value and celebrate the diverse experiences of our scholars and their families, and who care deeply about addressing the inequities that exist in education.What you’ll do…Advise all students on high school, college, and career pathways throughout the academic school year Hold counseling sessions for all grade levels and discuss academic standing Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials for all grade levels to do time-sensitive college presentations Oversee advisory implementation and monitor effectiveness Establish and maintain records of student academic performance, and achievement Ensure that seniors complete all financial aid forms including FAFSA, CSS Profile, and scholarships, and identify and support students through EOP Advocate for students in the financial aid process Support students through all stages of the college application process, from creating college fit list to creating a college arrival plan Participate in regular data collection and analysis to ensure students’ progress toward completion of FAFSA, college applications, and college selection Prepare families to be college-ready along with their students by hosting family events and supporting school interactions with parents Host several family events throughout the school year to build a strong financially literate and college going culture and the college preparation process (a-g requirements, college application process, etc) Serve as a resource to parents on college planning, including admission standards, entrance exams, course selection, financial aid and scholarships Create and deliver PD for Advisors and teachers around college preparation to help them lead family conferences aligned to college readiness requirements and geared toward maximizing 4-year college choices Support a college-going culture at the school by: Auditing student transcripts to ensure that they are on track with A-G courses and identifying students who need summer school/credit recovery Suggesting and planning college readiness interventions and events for students across grade levels Creating a visual college presence Consult with the school team on counseling scope and sequence at CAHS aligned to college, scheduling, and test coordination.
