You will be called by our schools to step into classrooms on an as-needed basis to ensure that students are meeting their daily learning goals. You are passionate about serving students of the East Side community and you are curious about the teaching profession. Above all, you are a patient optimist - you believe that every student is capable of graduating from college. This role reports to the school principal.Responsibilities

  • Build authentic relationships with the school community - administrators, teachers, staff and families.
  • Commit to equitable teaching and learning opportunities for all students with dedication to the success of students, their families, and the community.
  • Collaborate with Special Education staff to support a full-inclusion model of Special Education to the greatest extent possible.
  • Create a warm yet firm classroom culture through consistent implementation of behavior ladders.
  • Celebrate student growth, as well as proficiency.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with all stakeholders.
Education & Experience
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • You must have a 30 Day Substitute Permit before your first teaching assignment.
  • This is not required as part of your application. ACE will share directions for how to acquire a 30 day sub permit as part of your onboarding.
  • You are a mission-driven individual who has experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and students with disabilities.
  • You have experience using Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Hangouts, etc), as well as Google Classroom and/or other distance learning platforms.
Physical DemandsTo perform essential functions for the role, you should be able to:
  • Talk, hear and communicate with both adults and children
  • Use hands or fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds and climb ladders.
  • In terms of vision, have close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time while teaching in-person and/or virtual courses.
Salary & Benefits
  • $250 daily rate / $125 half-day rate
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Priority consideration for promotion into Teacher-of-Record positions within the network when available.
  • This position is CALSTRS eligible.
